Dolly Parton has spent decades showing what can happen when we put books into the hands of children.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children from birth to age five can receive a new, age-appropriate book in the mail every month — creating a home library of their very own and giving families more opportunities to read, learn and grow together.
Here in the Foothills, Partnership for Children of the Foothills is proud to help bring that opportunity to children across McDowell, Polk and Rutherford counties.
And you can help us keep the books coming!
A book is more than a book
During the first five years of life, children are building the foundation for everything that comes next. Reading together helps introduce children to words, sounds, stories and ideas while creating meaningful connections between children and the adults who care for them.
That is why early literacy is such an important part of our work.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and other literacy initiatives, Partnership for Children of the Foothills works to encourage reading from the very beginning and help families make books a regular part of everyday life.
Children enrolled in the Imagination Library receive a book mailed directly to their home each month until their fifth birthday. There is no cost to the family.
But bringing those books to local children takes a community.
Give like Dolly — right here at home
When you make a gift to Partnership for Children of the Foothills, you can help support the local distribution of books to young children throughout our three-county region.
Your donation helps us continue creating opportunities for children to open a mailbox and discover a book with their name on it. It helps families build home libraries. And it helps make reading something children can experience again and again during the years when their brains are growing and developing so rapidly.
Whether your gift is large or small, it becomes part of something much bigger: a community investing in its youngest readers.
Help us turn pages into possibilities
There are only about 2,000 days between a child’s birth and the first day of kindergarten. Partnership for Children of the Foothills believes those days matter, and early childhood investments can help children arrive at school healthy, safe and ready to succeed.
You can be part of that investment.
Give like Dolly. Help us put more books into the hands — and homes — of children in McDowell, Polk and Rutherford counties.
Your donation stays connected to the work happening right here in our communities and helps us continue expanding early literacy opportunities for local families.
