Circle of Parents

Parent-led discussion groups meet weekly in Polk, Rutherford and McDowell Counties. Families work toward the common goal of building family strengths in the areas of family management, communication, nurturing, and positive discipline. Child care is provided.

Growing Minds Resource Library

The Growing Minds Early Childhood Resource Library offers lending toys, education materials, and theme kits that engage children in a fun, age-appropriate manner and facilitate the mental and literacy development that will help them succeed in school and life.

Play to Learn

The Play to Learn program hosts free, weekly two-hour play groups, involving parents/caregivers led by community facilitators that engage children and their caregivers in culturally and developmentally appropriate play activities.

Diaper Bank

The Partnership for Children of the Foothills Diaper Bank helps local families access clean diapers, Pull-Ups, wipes and diaper rash ointment so babies can stay dry, healthy and comfortable. Diapers support baby health, reduce family stress and help parents keep children in care while they work or attend school.

Child Care Assistance for Parents

Child Care vouchers are available for families who meet eligibility guidelines. This program assists low-income families in paying for high-quality child care so parents or guardians can work or attend school. In Rutherford and Polk, contact the Department of Social Services. In McDowell, contact Southwestern Child Development.
