Partnership for Children of the Foothills is pleased to celebrate board member Beth McCallister on her recent induction into the Second Wind Hall of Fame.
Nominated by the Rotary Club of Tryon, Beth was honored for her many years of faithful service, leadership and volunteerism throughout Polk County and the greater Tryon community. The Second Wind Hall of Fame recognizes retirees age 60 and older who continue to make meaningful contributions to their communities through service, dedication and care for others.
Beth’s commitment to service can be seen in many places. Through Rotary, she has supported weekly club operations, helped organize service projects, served in youth leadership efforts and helped keep the Rotary Little Library at Harmon Field stocked with books. She has also been active through First Baptist Church of Tryon, where her service has included roles with the Scholarship Committee, Sisterhood outreach and the Blessing Box ministry.
A retired educator, Beth taught French at Polk County High School and is a graduate of Tryon High School, UNC Chapel Hill and La Sorbonne in France. Her love of education, reading, language and community connection has shaped the way she continues to give back.
We are grateful for Beth’s heart for children, families and community, and we are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Her example reminds us that service does not end with retirement. Sometimes, it simply catches a second wind.
